| We're just ordinary people.... |
[10 Apr 2007|11:18pm] |
So Easter weekend was very fun and relaxing...
Got up Friday and packed everything and made our way to Fort Myers. Had dinner at Olive Garden with Mom, Viktorya, and Bryan. After that we watched Stoned with Mom (it was crazy weird). Russ made nice with Mom (even kisses (rare for him)). Went to bed around midnight.
Slept in Saturday and then went over to Viktorya and Bryan's. Went to Cici's (it was good, but we should have held out for real chicken and dumplings (as in homemade by Granny and not that shit Cracker Barrel tries to pass off for chicken and dumplings) for lunch and Dollar Paradise. Then went to Granny's. Russ hammed it up for Granny, Sharon, and Lisa. Ended up doing some impromptu house hunting on the way home (there are quite a few houses for sale near my mom's house and in her neighborhood there is a condo for sale and one for rent). Came home and had mojo rotisserie from Publix with corn, mashed potatoes, and bakery crescent rolls (Russ was able to snag some chicken from Mom, it's those irresistible puppy eyes). Otter paws (ice cream) for dessert. Tried to watch Stranger than Fiction but we were exhausted.
Got up early thanks to Russ. Got pudding making lessons from mom. Went to Granny's for easter lunch (ham, green beans, rice pilaf, sweet potato casserole, homemade macaroni and cheese, lemon meringue pie, banana creme pie, and oatmeal/chocolate chip ice cream). Left for Orlando around 6 p.m. Made it home around 11:00 (we stopped to eat and took the scenic route back).
Sidenotes
-Life will be infinitely better come July/August.
-Russ loves Twizzlers, and can hurl himself over 5 feet in the air to get them.
-My fiance loves me because he lets me feed him Swedish fish and hold the remote.
-We have a tentative wedding date (which is publicly TBA until we have something officially booked with it on it (although a few people do know (i.e. both sets of parents and a few others)

| Strawberry Festival |
[18 Mar 2007|02:52am] |
Alan and I decided to take a spontaneous road trip to the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, so that we could get some delicious carnival food and see Hootie and the Blowfish.
Highlights (there's probably more, I just can't think of any)
-strawberry-topped funnel cake -BBQ beef sandwich -the flower Alan won me -spoiled Beagle magnet -the malachite ring i got (it's a dark green stone set in sterling) -strawberry fest tote bag -"I'm sorry sir, this is a dry festival"

The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more rebel than traditional, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more extroverted than introverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), greedy (68%), intellectual (60%), romantic (57%). | | | Stereotypes | | Punk Rock | 80% | | Prep | 69% | | Emo Kid | 67% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 10% | | Substances | 5% | | Travel | 6% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Liberal, whom you agree with around 41% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 65% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG. By the way, your hottness rank is 60%, hotter than 85% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite

This morning I woke up to my little man(Russ) spooned next to me. My waking caused him to wake, and he rolled over onto his back and started smiling and stretching. The cutest thing I've seen in a while.

| Valentine's and new Russ pictures |
[15 Feb 2007|08:12pm] |
For Valentine's day Alan and I went exploring on I-Drive. We went to Bill Wong's all you can eat buffet for dinner. That place is heaven on earth. They had everything- fried chicken, prime rib, chinese food, french fries, pastries, ice cream, cake, the most amazing chinese biscuit things, and more. Then we went to a few of the outlet stores down there, including to the Zales outlet. We tried on some wedding bands just to get an idea of what we like. I found the perfect one to go with my ring. It was 1/4 kt. with 5 stones in a prong setting with the rest of the band being thin and sort of hidden. I liked it because it doesn't take away from the engagement ring like the larger channel set ones did. After shopping we went to see our favorite mouse- Mr. Chuck E. Cheese (can't mess with tradition). The I-Drive one was pretty fun (we one tons of tickets on the Baseball game machine), but I have to say I like the Waterford Lakes one much better. We made each other cards too.
( Be my Valentine? )
And of course some new Russ pictures

| Happy Birthday Russ! |
[12 Feb 2007|12:14am] |
Yesterday was Russ's first birthday...
 2 months old (9 lbs.)
 Now (31 lbs)
I have to admit that I'm kinda proud of myself and Alan, that we raised a puppy together (esp. a beagle, since they are one of the more difficult dogs to train). I still remember the day Alan brought him home, getting into his truck and seeing this small perfect little guy snuggled between Alan's leg and the arm rest, staring up at me. Then going up to Petsmart and getting all the stuff to make him part of our lives, and making him a home in our bathroom (he has since claimed the entire apartment, most notably the recliner, the end of the couch, the corner of the dining room, and underneath the bed). I remember feeling so overwhelmed before we had him potty trained and taught him how to obey different commands. I never thought we'd be able to keep him under control. Now he behaves fairly well (he's incredibly smart(partly due to the nature of the breed, partly due to the DHA in his dog food), except for the occasional chewed sock or accident. It's been so neat to watch him grow into such a personality(he is such a ham for the camera). I have to say, I can't imagine life without him.
In case you were were wondering if he got any presents, he got a couple new rawhide chews and a can of filet mignon flavored dog food (he normally only gets kibble and whatever treats we give him (he lives for chicken nuggets).
( He'll always be my baby )

| 2006 Wrap Up |
[01 Jan 2007|10:59pm] |
For the most part my 2006 began on April 20th, the day Alan brought Russ home, (which slammed the door shut on an already declining situation). The first few weeks of having Russ were pretty overwhelming as I had never had a dog before. Slowly, things got easier, and as of December 29th Russ has had all his puppy shots, and has developed into quite the cutie (he went from 9 pounds to 31 pounds in 8 months, and his markings changed slightly for the better). The vet said he is as big as he will get skeletally but he may get a bit stockier.
April also brought 4 years for Alan and I. We celebrated by going to Chuck E. Cheese and Walmart(our relationship staples).
In July Alan and I officially got our own place. It was challenging at first because we had things everywhere, including one room packed floor to ceiling, corner to corner with boxes (although we did lose a bit of space, the place is quite cozy, and utilities are dirt cheap( the highest electric bill we've had is $130ish and our water and sewer combined is only like $20). Over the course of a couple months we transformed this place into our home. Things were a bit hectic at first with Alan working late and me spending a lot of time to myself, but I have (at least in my opinion) have developed so much independence and self-reliance as a result, that it has been worth it.
I have to admit that I feel the need to pinch myself sometimes at the progress we've made in 5 years(come April 2007).
Skip to November, I got to go home for 5 days at Thanksgiving, which was a nice break. When I got back we celebrated Alan's 25th birthday on November 28th at Kobe's steakhouse with his parents and grandma.
The holiday(Christmas) season began December 17th when Alan officially (finally, lol) asked me to marry him (and was actually able to pull off surprising me). We picked out the prettiest 3-stone ring from Zales. It's 1/2 carat (total weight)- 3 princess stones surrounded by 6 round stones in a channel setting (14 carat yellow gold). It's engraved with past, present, future on the inside, which is separated by 2 more diamonds). For Alan's ring (to be bought at a much later date (read: 2008)) I want to get him a 2 tone band with some kind of engraving on the inside.
We haven't set a date as of yet, but we're looking at sometime between April and June of 2008. I'm hoping to have something simple and tasteful, as I'd rather focus on having a nice honeymoon and putting a downpayment on a place of our own.
The Christmas celebrating began on December 22 when we had Alan's parents over for a tender, juicy beef roast garnished with potatoes and carrots, corn with butter sauce (care of the Jolly Green Giant), and ceasar salad. We followed dinner with chocolate fondue(courtesy of the fondue pot my mom got for me and a kick-ass hershey's recipe) with strawberries, pound cake, marshmallows, and pineapple. We also had cheese, grapes, carrots, and celery for appetizers.
On Christmas Eve Alan and I went to Fort Myers to celebrate with my family. We went to Granny's for dinner (which was, as always, super yummy). On Christmas morning my mom made us the hugest most delicious breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, croissants, and orange juice. After breakfast we (my mom, my dad, me, Alan, Viktorya, and Bryan) opened presents before Alan had to go back so he could get to work by 2 (at least he got time and half and a lunchbox full of tasty leftovers). The rest of the day was spent on the couch watching movies with my mom and nibbling on leftovers all day, and then eating pork chops for dinner.
( On the present front )
On Tuesday Viktorya and Bryan took me to the mall to see all the renovations (and Viktorya gave me a belated xmas gift (read: her cold)). After that we went to Skyline Chili and then back to her and Bryan's place for a bit, before going to my mom's for homemade hamburgers and french fries(also homemade- cause that's how Mom rolls, lol). On Wednesday, we got up early to head back to Orlando. We picked up Granny and my Aunt Sandra and hit the road. We got to stop at quite a few thrift stores and ended up with some pretty nifty treasures.
Alan and I rang in the new year with his parents at their place. We had dinner and then went to Muvico(sp?) at Pointe Orlando to see The Good Shepherd.
Today, I worked 7-2 and then got home to put away all the Christmas stuff and everything. I still need to do a few things, but that's for my day off tomorrow.
Alan's and my next venture is moving to Fort Myers come July. We are both really looking forward to it. Alan's been researching jobs and living arrangements the last few weeks, and I'm looking forward to establishing (hopefully with the decorative of assistance of my fabulous (read bestest mom in the world) mom) a nice place of our own closer to my family, and hopefully finding a job (hopefully but not neccessarily) in my field that I like.
